Last night myself and my companions ventured along to Emporium theatre’s horror-themed extravaganza Emporiumacabre – an evening of terrifying short plays designed to amuse, shock and disturb in equal measure. Although not wishing to give away any of the stories or surprises, I would happily recommend Emporiumacabre to anyone wanting a fun evening that takes you out of your comfort zone and into the twilight zone! There are good performances from a talented cast, some excellent staging and sets and one of the creepiest atmosphere’s I’ve ever experienced in a theatre environment. To say more would be giving away too much so book your tickets now while there are still a few performances left to run…
And don’t forget, if you’re a fan of classic horror, monster movies and cult scary television shows, the new retro horror magazine Space Monsters is now on sale in the Emporium cafe all day and every day! Why not buy issues one and two in the Emporium’s special “two mags for a tenner” offer?

An eight-year-old Billy Chainsaw used Dick Smith’s now legendary Do-It-Yourself Monster Make-up Handbook to transform himself into something beyond hideous – so he could scare a visiting neighbour. Much to his delight, it worked a treat. After the initial shock, Billy’s female victim turned to his mom and said, “Don’t worry, he’ll grow out of it.” Fortunately, he never did! Which led to him carving out a niche for himself as one of the UK’s most notorious horror genre film critics and a maestro of all things weird!

“It is difficult to find anything on the subject that is unique. Breaking News by N.J. Hallard is one of those few exceptions… The flow of the story and the development of the characters are done sublimely…”
“This is one of the coolest zombie novels out there… It’s like an avalanche, once it got going it was impossible to stop… This is one novel that is beyond the usual zombie thriller… It was an uncommon and pleasurable experience. Wow!”

“Hallard has done something rather clever, electing to write about what he knows best. You see, the whole story is based on himself, his girlfriend, their friends and family, and the geographical area that he lives in. It’s a genuine autobiography that suddenly takes a turn into the Twilight Zone. A classic ‘What If?’ plot… Hallard is an excellent storyteller and I’m itching to find out what happens next.” – Rablenkov, five-star Amazon.co.uk customer
