Any fan of British horror will have heard of UK scream queen Emily Booth. Actress, model, writer, presenter and now yummy mummy, the lovely Emily is always keen to support British horror events. A fervent follower of the ever popular Classic Horror Campaign, Ms Booth had this to say when she heard about Frighten Brighton:
“I LOVE the title Frighten Brighton! It looks like horror has found a new home!”
When asked about her love of British horror and her support of the Classic Horror Campaign, Emily commented:
“I have a huge nostalgia and admiration for the films of Hammer. The British film ‘industry’ used to have distinctive eras that were quintessentially British such as Hammer and Carry On and they are a slice of history that has ceased to exist. Not only are they wonderful films that captured gothic romance and indeed Britain beautifully but important parts of our history.
It is a shame these kind of films will never be made again as they belong to a different time but we can at least keep them alive by showing beautiful and restored versions of them on TV. Horror has never been so popular – especially with young people but it would be great to remind the new generation of its roots – and to lure them away from endless American remakes, so they can see that British horror had a huge influence on the genre and that the films of Hammer are treasures to be savoured.”
We thank Emily from the bottom of our Devilish hearts for all her kind words and wish her and Betty all the best for the festive season and the coming year. So we’ll leave the final words to Emily Booth herself :
“Anyone in or near Brighton this Saturday!!!! FABULOUS horror film event “Frighten Brighton” !!”
We couldn’t have put it better ourselves!
